[Tibor Miklos] "but by now I tried to save it in every possible format bit depth, color profile, etc"
Stuff like that scares me because you are problem just trying everything without going to the manual. It is provides no useful info to help trouble shoot.

If you are using layered images they should be psd files and color is always 8bit RGB.

For flattened images I normally use tiff but .pic are fine (the manual list all the acceptable file formats. And still 8 Bit, RGB only.

My guess it that somewhere you have set a solid overlay and the button is providing a window through this. Where and when you did this I have no idea, I would need to see the project file. If you want to send the program file to me you can save a copy and then take out all the assets except for this menu graphic. The DVDSP will need to be zipped before emailing. You can email it to me at onthecow @ michaelangelodv (dot) com and I will be happy to take a look at it.
