Random encodes go offline, need reimport
by Joey Burnham on Nov 5, 2009 at 6:03:59 pm

Hi All,
So I have a problem that's steadily getting worse. Working NTSC D1, Uncompressed 10-Bit. (AJA)

For years, my destination folder for encodes resides on our XServe RAID. I let DSP do encoding because my company does all short form work. Trailer lengths or less. I know the story about using compressor to do all encodes, but I've been working for years letting DSP do the encodes and all has been well.

Lately, after the file imports either the audio or video will go offline. I then reimport the source file and most of the time it's fine after that, but sometimes I need to reimport up to 3 times. I've noticed that after the multiple encodes, I'm left with 2 good files (the audio and video), and a couple of unfinished encodes with incomplete filenames (which I just trash).

I'm thinking this is a network problem but was wondering if anyone out there has experienced this before.

Best,
Joey
