The text is part of the MPG-2 file. You will not be able to highlight the text if you created it this way.

One option:
Click and drag a button over the text or the area you would like a highlight. Under the shape pull-down in the inspector window(for the button) there are some different options for HLs that you could use.

You will not be able to highlight the text. You would need to create an overlay in Photoshop. This is covered in the book.
