Re: Authoring process for a 8cm disc

Hi Colin,
I don't have a lot of experience with this size disc, but I do know Proof copies for these types of projects are on regular DVD-R, or a VIDEO_TS folder on hard drive, as the compatibility for that type of media in players is spotty, at best...as you've found.
Once you get the approval, then these projects are submitted to the plant as DDP 2.0 file sets, on one or two DLT's (or yes, and on or two DVD-R's) depending on if it's dual layer or not.
DVD SP has the settings for DDP 2.0 8cm, as you may know.
One thing I'm told - most plants that support the 8cm size DVD-Rom don't have the proper mold for this small disc, but will cut down a regular DVD-9. Don't know if that's a bad thing as I've never had one in here, but regardless, this size disc is not as compatible in players out there as 'regular' DVD-Video DVD-Rom - which I'm sure your client and their customers know?
Take care,
Trai
