dave rumbelowsubtitle import from .stl file

I am subtitling a dvd in a program called lemony to produce DVD Maestro text, spruce files with a .stl file extention.
These are text files with timing and content information of my subtitles.
I can successfully import these .stl's into dvdsp using a right click in the subtitle track - import subtitle file but there are some glitches I need to iron out and I wondered if you could help me.

1. Some of the punctuation particularly commas and quotation marks haven't carried through instead these have been substituted for strange foreign characters, I have used arial for the font embedded in the stl, a font I have on both my subtitling and dvdsp machines.

2. There is a crop on the left of my subtitles of about 5pix, I know dvdsp sees all the subtitles as text as I am able to access and change it, the only workaround I have found is to individually alter each subtitle in dvdsp adding a space in front of each line of text

If anyone has any suggestions for me on this or a recommendation for a more tried and tested method for importing editable subtitles into dvdsp I would really like to hear of it.
thanks
