We Use Auto Action buttons all the time (Invisible ones so that as you navigate round a Scene Access it will "rollover" to the next Scene Access screen).

Never had any problems in either software players or set top boxes - it all depends how you are navigating on the software player. If you use the mouse then it does need to be "confirmed" I believe with a double click however if you use the arrow keys to navigate (or the players on screen "remote") it should work.

You've assigned a Jump To command to the button you wish to Auto activate so that it jumps to another menu right?
