Re: Complier error message: Video bitrate too high???

Thanks for the reply, Noah. Maybe I did not explain the situation clearly enough.

Here is what happened:
IN FCP:
- 2 video clips (both are 720x480, 29.97 fps, SD-NTSC) were exported to Compressor.
---- 1 clip = 46 mins
---- 2 clip = 49 mins

IN COMPRESSOR:
- I used the standard compressor settings for "DVD: Best Quality 90 minutes" for both the audio and video on both clips. I did not make any adjustments to the standard settings.
- Compressor worked fine and exported the files appropriately.

IN DVDSP:
- Created a very simple DVD project for the 1st clip; formated and built without any problem; DVD burning without a hitch.
- Used the same DVD project (renamed and saved differently); swapped out the 1st clip for the second and tried to build the project but it errors out. The log says that it is" Muxing VTS_01_1.VOB" and then "Video bitrate too high".

My problem is trying to find out the variable that caused this to error out when I am using the same settings for two different (but almost identical) SD files. That is my main concern so that I can alleviate this problem in the future.

Historically, I have not really had to tweak the standard Compressor settings at all to get what I want. More importantly, I have never seen this type of error, even when working with my HDV clips. I would have thought that the SD clips would process much easier than the HDV files I am used to working with.

SO - If I have to change the standard settings in Compressor to reduce the video bitrate, what do u suggest? The default for the standard Compressor setting that I used is Two pass VBR Best; Average bitrate 6.2Mbps; Maximum bitrate 77Mbps; Motion Estimation = Best.

Thanks.
