motion menus-navigation and compatability issues
by Pétur Már Gunnarsson on May 18, 2008 at 3:48:01 pm

First I would like to thank you all for this forum, from it I have learned all I know and managed to undertake quite a heavy task and complete it, until now.
I'm authoring a DVD 9 project with just under 100 motion menus (main, sub, sub-sub), all working good in simulator. When burned to a Maxell DVD+R or .img to hard drive, navigation starts acting a bit strange. there are 18 buttons (the max I believe) on the main menu to which you are directed after a small video intro plays. I can not use the mouse when on a computer and in one case when jumping from left to right it goes right to left. I have checked everything thoroughly but with no result.
The disc is set up to be bi-lingual (Icelandic/english) but my feeling is people do not setup their players so all menus are in fact marked as being enghlish. To keep the continuity I am using scripts and display preferences, linking to correct menus and subtitles. Like I said, all is working the way it shoud, except for this strange occasion of a button jumping the wrong direction (which has to be a programming error, but still I have checked with DVDAE and the navigation is correct there??) and this problem with not being able to use the mouse (in Apple DVD player and VLC at least)
I have the program make an auto brake point (wich is placed at sector 2082288 if anyone cares)
Is there anybody who has dealt with this problem or has an idea as to what could be the problem?

thanks

regards
Pétur Már
