There are 3 ways to tackle this problem. You can do your math, place lots of markers in possible layer-break window (mostly guesswork) or you can download a demo version of DVD After Edit which will show you the correct layer-break position.
For option No.2 look in the archives, the topic was discussed ad nauseam.
