Sutitles not displaying properly

I've added a subtitle .stl file to a video track, even though in my prefernces I have sub's set to display as helvetica 18pt, all the subs display as courier 9pt. Way too small?!? .

I've tried hi-lighting the text files then hitting apply in the subtitle prefernces, they don't change. I don't know what else to do..

Any one know how to fix this?!? I cant burn this with sub's at 9pt courier... no one could ever read them...
