best printable DVD-R media
by SammyClam on Jul 19, 2006 at 6:12:06 pm

I've searched the posts and read up on this elsewhere but would still welcome some input. Burning pro movies with Toast at 4X speed using Maxell, Memorex and Verbatim I have yet to see or understand what the differences are in quality -- apart from the inket printing.

As some have suggested, do cheaper discs freeze or cause pixellation? Or is this preventable with slower burn speeds (i.e. 4X or less) as others have indicated? Or... is the issue the lifespan of the disc?

The appearance of these discs is of equal importance to the quality of its media, and so far, Memorex wins hands down in the printing department. I'm wary, however, as they do not seem to be highly rated for quality. Verbatim's white injet printable dvd-r's are more washed out and less vivid (plus the huge centre ring). Maxell's even more so.

Previous posts all point to TAIYO YUDEN DVD-R 8x. Seems I can only order these online (I'm from Vancouver, Canada). But will I be satisfied with the printing quality? Or, will Memorex suffice? (Incidentally, Memorex discs came with my Epson printer, assumedly to showcase their printing quality.)

I will be distributing to friends and pros alike and obviously want the best and most compatible, but time and money are factors. Thanks for any help!

SC
