I too am dealing with this exact problem, only with 10 bit uncompressed. Settings 5.0-7.5 2passVBR, same software updates. I've spent hours inserting compression markers throughout my action sequences, scenes with ambient fog and flickering fire. In some instances, there is great to excellent results. In others, the pixellation remains. I'm at the point where I'm laying down compression markers every two to four frames - what a timely pain in the butt!

I'm going to try the CBR route as suggested and see what happens.
