With this much motion (speed drill)it's a complex encode. Yes, I tried CBR at various incremental bitrates (I find CBR best works well for most media I encode)and the result was a lot of horizontal shift across the screen fields. It's just too fast a piece of media.
Oddly enough, I let DVDSP encode the track and the result was much better; only a very slight shift at the head-almost undetectable. I've used Media Cleaner Pro for years and I have a pretty good feel for the necessity of a 2-pass VBR and this would seem a likely candidate.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll tweak CBR around a bit and see what happens.
