Damon,
I can't put it any plainer than in my post
" Overlays for DVDSP menus are grayscale images of ONLY the part of the menu that you want to change with the different states, be these parts text, objects, or whatever. These are then color-mapped in DVDSP to the colors you select."
This means the EXACT part of the menu, ie. ONLY the text or shape, that you want to change, NONE of the background is included.
In DVDSP you select the area in your menu that has the button, but only the color-mapped area will change.
You should read up on color-mapping, the opacity slider of the normal state of this button is set by default to zero, so it will not show till you raise this opacity.
Unless your menu is complex, you only need one overlay, DVDSP does the rest.
Hope this clears up the concept for you.
