too late to begin learning Shake?

Hi everyone
I'm a After effects user and would love to move into the big boys game (I love AEF and will never ditch it but Shake seems to offers a lot more control for certain tasks)
A simple question comes up to me after reading through the forum: Is it too late to dive into this wonderful tool or should I be looking somewhere else to begin learning a "bigger" comp tool?
If not, could you point me into the right direction for learning it? I'm in the Canary Islands and there are no specialized schools here so maybe a good training book or dvd's...?
Thanks in advance
