Sorry guys, even with the standard io devices, the delay was not half a second. The ioHD has even improved upon the latency. There is no way that I hit play, then a half second later, video and audio starts on my external monitors.
There seems to be a config issue here. Yes, firewire has latency, but half a second is a lot.
