Hi Steve,
I'm assuming that you are importing the file directly into the RED / AvidFX and not pulling the image from the Avid timeline ... is this correct? If so, then I suggest that you click on the face of the track that contains the image and in the Control Panel set the Aspect pop-up to "Use Project Aspect Ratio".
Please let us know if this solves the problem.
