shattered text in motion

I am trying to apply the BCC 5 3D shatter effect to some text in a 2D motion 3 project. I have an arrow coming down it hits the text and the text shatters. The problem is the shattered pieces don't fly out of the Motion scaling box that surrounds the text. This is the box that you grab to resize or move the text around.

Does anyone know I I can scale the box so all the shattered pieces are seen, with out scaling the text and pieces inside the box.
