Sound Track Pro - and MP3

Hello Forum members,
I need help. I have not quite found a good answer for my question.

My question, is there a way to export from a soundtrack pro multi-track project, a track as an
mp3 file? I can drag an mp3 audio file into STP, and edit it, etc. But I cannot get it back out
as an mp3. The File>Export option show MP3, but of course it is grayed out.

I have seen much on this, and it seems the consensus is that STP cannot export to an mp3 audio file.
If that is the case, why does the MP3 option show in the File>Export menu?
