You should definitely renter to action and flatten before saving, but this wont always give you the desired result. STP has quite a few quirks I'm hoping have been addressed in the latest version.
One of the issues with ver2.02 is reverb occasionally resetting itself to default settings when you render the effect to action resulting in WAY to much reverb. The trick is to render, then uncheck the render, re-adjust the reverb effect, then render again. Then play back in STP to make sure it is working right.
