I'm not sure we follow exactly where the MP3 compression is coming in to your workflow here. FWIW, if you are working with your audio as MP3 files it could possibly explain why the dynamics of the normalization are not performing as expected (MP3 compression will cause you to lose some dynamic range) and it would *definitely* explain why processing is taking longer than expected. STP is not a native MP3 editor, so it has to decompress the file (in the background) to its native work language, PCM AIFF, in order for you to do anything with or to it.

Let us know - your problem may be more complicated than it appears, or it could simply be because you're working with MP3s.

Cheers,
Stace
