micro-second of audio, then disappears! Help!!!

Ack, now I'm having a bigger problem!! Whenever I export a sound file, there is sound for about the first third of a second, then the rest of it is blank. I've done tests, setting the in and out point ANYWHERE in the project timeline, but always the export is the same -- about the first third of a second of the audio is there, then it cuts out forever.
The entire project is 12 minutes long. Tests range from the whole thing to just a few seconds. I've tried making the project much smaller, as a test, but that didn't do a thing to fix this. I've removed all filters, and it is still doing this.
Help!!!
