Newbie - how to clear in and out points??

I feel like a real dummy posting this. I've been scouring the manual for an hour and a half, and googline everything -- I cannot find how to do this simple thing: Clear the in and out point. (And is there any way to prevent them from appearing every time I drag in the timeline? -- making me nuts)
While I'm here -- I cannot seem to copy filters into favorites (only sound clips). Is that possible to move or copy filters around from track to track, and save to favorites? I'm using version 1.1
Thank you, somebody!
