what should I read?

I have FCS2 and I'm pretty well-rounded in everything; however, something I think I could improve in is sound editing. The only thing's i really know how to use in Soundtrack are the noise reduction feature and high pass and low pass filters.
What is a good book I can read about sound editing. I realize I could just read Soundtrack's manual, but I'm assuming all that will do is tell me what the effects do. I want to know what the effects do and know which situations to use them in. Does that make sense?
Thanks for the input guys.
ps. feel free to provide web links. Those are free and books are not :)
