Bernard,
A 320GB hard drive was never used or qualified to work in those arrays. Which model disk array do you have? Fibre Channel or SCSI?
You can only use Hitachi Deskstar disk drives. You will not likely have any luck using anything else.
The MV4105, MV4210, U320S, U320R and U320RX all use a RAID 3. There should be a small diagram on the back of the unit explaining the different mode levels. Simply install your new drives, perform a Mode 6 Wipe, Set to desired RAID mode, then partition using your Host Computer's disk utility program.
