If you have warranty remaining through OSS, just send it in to them. Request an RMA. If this array was built at Ciprico, your warranty no longer stands and it would be safe to open the system for service.
If we don't need a lot of space then i would do this immediately, but it is quite hard to find an alternative in short notice.
You told me in a previous posting that a tech messed with the array and replaced parts inside. Factory configuration from Ciprico was a RAID 5, simple volume partition for Windows. What you described earlier does not match the default settings.
What i meant with PCI Express config was PCIe slots in our host, we have all of the slots occupied, so he tried to rearrange the card positions, see if another card caused it, and messing with the BIOS & software settings mostly. Based on BOXX tech support reply, RAIDCore PCI Express card should go to the 4x PCIe slot (white), although it doesn't change anything, imho. I don't know if they destroyed the original RAID 5 & simple voulume partition setting from Ciprico, but it was RAID 5 configuration we had in mind even before buying, that's what they promised to configure.
When your host is powered down, does the MV5108 stay powered on? If so, something is wrong. Upon power up, what does the RAIDcore BIOS tell you about the status of the Array? Normal, critical, or offline?
I have to get back to you later on this.
Also, try the 3.3.1 drivers. Firmware flash on the RAIDcore is very critical for stability.
Will do. I'm sorry, forgot about this, is the fact that the our Windows system drives is configured with RAID 1 a factor too? it's Intel Storage matrix, IIRC. Is there any tutorial, walkthrough or article that i can read about configuring MV5108?
Thanks Kevin, really great help.
