Question to Lance about FC Port Topology for MediaVault 4210
by Ruslan Akmanov (ruslan_3d) on May 30, 2008 at 5:29:12 am

Hi Lance,

We have 2 MediaVault 4210 connected to Apple FC 4Gb 4 port board. All 4 units striped to RAID 0 and all units in RAID 3 Mode. Apple Fibre Channel Preference Panel sets "Port Topology" to "Automatic" mode for all units. System Profile showns for All units "Topology: Automatic (Arbitrated Loop)". Is this normal situation? Each Unit on our 4210 connected to it oun FC port on FC board. And may be it will be right switch "Port Topology" mode to "Point to Point" for each unit? Or "Automatic" mode is the right setting? Can You inform us about preferable settings?

best regards
ruslan_3d
