u320 dual max firmware upgrade with leopard

Ok so I had my u320 dual max on a Mac Pro running Tiger, then switched it to a Mac Pro running Leopard, and ran into the read-only issue.
So I downloaded the 19d firmware update and used zterm to update the drive, but then the instructions say to switch the serial cable to the other port and do the same process to the other drive. I switch the cable and I get no response in zterm. When I switch it back to the other drive, zterm immediately responds and brings up a menu.
In system profiler and disk utility it shows the one drive is 19d and writable, but the other is still version 4413 and read-only. I can get the drive to mount on the desktop but the drive as a whole is still read-only. What is the issue here?
