MediaVault Failed in Avid?

Hi.
A couple of days ago another editor at our facility was working when on the client monitor he kept seeing white "sparkles". After several rounds of "disk access" errors, dmboot errors, system errors and rebooting Avid MCA 2.8.1 wouldn't even start as long as the Mediavault was connected. To even access it in "My Computer" would take something like 2 or 3 minutes. When it opened, I could only access 2 of the five disks. The other 3 only showed up in disk management and lost their names. When I took the Media Vault out of the mix, things functioned normally.
I managed to move a large chunk of the media off the drives and after a few hours let to cool, I restarted the PC with the Media Vault and scandisk ran and seemed to repair a bunch of files and indexes and a lot of stuff I've never seen before. The problem seemed to be at least partially resolved, since I was then able to access all the disks in My Computer and disk management normally.
When I launched MCA, I got more errors and since then stopped using it.
All the indicator lights on the front panel appear normal and I don't hear any unusual clicking or anything from the drives. I have both channels stripped together using the approved Avid Atto UL card (can't remember the model number), a 1.5TB tower. I am running Avid MCA 2.8.1 on an HP xw8200. I've been using these drives without a problem for about three years.
Any ideas?
