Check the Huge permission setting in the Get Info window and make sure it has not been set to Read Only. There is an option to Ignore Permission On This Volume and make sure that is checked.

I had this happened to a customer a while back and he moved his Huge unit back and forth between systems and somehow the permission setting prevented him from rendering anything.
