Subtitle Workflow

Encore 1.5
Just curious how folks are handling larger subtitle jobs.
We've got an 80 minute film in which we need to add english DVD subtitles using Encore 1.5. We'll probably do it in-house. There are around 800 subtitles.
This project has been subtitled in an Avid using the Avid titler software, but I don't see a way that can speed up the process for Encore (unless someone has a brilliant idea). We also have a text file of the transcription.
If anyone has any workflow ideas they care to share between ridiculous deadlines...that would be great.
Thanks
