No hightlights on buttons

Hi
I'm using Adobe Encore DVD 1.5 and really need some help.

I'm have a close up image of an eye that I want to use as the DVD menu and I've set the pupil and iris as two different buttons. However, I don't want any highlighting on the actual buttons themselves - as it just looks ugly. Is it possible that when a button is selected (but not chosen) that text will come up next to it, similar to the 'over' command in web design?

Does anyone know how I might achieve this?
