Workflow question

Hi,
I'm about to do a corporate video with an EX1 which I've only used once before. I edit solely on a Mac Desktop but will be filming in remote locations so I'll need to hire a Laptop to offload the SD card and back up.
To keep costs down I'd like to hire a PC laptop (not a Mac), download XDCAM Transfer and process the footage in the field this way.
My question then is this:
Does the Windows version of XDCAM Transfer turn the MXF files into the same codec? (XDCAM HD 1080i50 is what I need) that I can then use in FCP?
Thanks.
Peter
...I've just thought some more about this. Perhaps the following is the best:
Simply drag the BPAV folder onto my Windows machine then transfer it all to Mac when I return, THEN use XDCAM Transfer on my Mac to transcode all the footage. Does that sound right?
