Got it, page 308 of the user manual (under the Help menu). Open the audio file in the viewer, zoom in as far as you can, select A to get the arrow, hold down the shift key and slide the frame over the waveform. I did this, then set an in point on the clip and on my timeline and did an overwrite edit. Worked great, very slick.
