pesky Xserve RAID
by

A client has an Xserve RAID that was installed with another G5 some time ago, which is having performance issues. He swapped to a newer G5 box, and didn't install/setup the RAID Admin tool. So I did, but I can't seem to get it to communicate with the RAID. I reset the IP address on RAID with DHCP to match the G5's, then made the connection in Add System, but it goes into "gathering info" for a minute or two, then stops with "communications error". Then I forced a manual IP on the G5 (both on same subnet in both cases), connected directly from ethernet port on the RAID to Ethernet port 1 on G5 and got to the same place. I also used my laptop with same results... Client is working on a project now, and has no way to offload all the media, rebuild the RAID, etc...
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tom
