Santhosh, I think a better suggestion might be to learn After Effects. Nuke appears to be a great high-end compositor, but there's plenty more work out there for AE. You can also "roll your own", so to speak, and create a production setup at home for minimal cost. The money you'd need to spend on a single license of Nuke would get you AE with a small render farm!

Granted you can "roll your own" with combustion if you already have a copy of it. As long as you can find clients that just need finished footage, you can freelance from home using combustion, setting up a small rendering farm, which is relatively inexpensive today.
