If you can look in the crash log (Start->Administrative Tools->Computer Management:: Event Viewer->Application) you might find a reference to which codec is causing the problem. I've found surprisingly useful info about crashes via the Event Viewer log from time to time. Double-click on an entry in the log to view details. Here's a sample:

Faulting application Wacom_Tablet.exe, version 6.0.5.7, faulting module Wacom_Tablet.exe, version 6.0.5.7, fault address 0x0000dc4f.
