Another handy hint for doing this is to use the "." [period or full-stop] key to extend the end-point of a layer or object. You would need to manually extend the comp duration but after that you can just select all the layers, go to the last frame and hit the "." key.

I'm a contractor for Autodesk at the moment but, unless otherwise stated, all opinions expressed here are my own.
