Scott,

Since you are working with Combustion and 3DS Max, you might want to look into rendering to .RPF files. I don't work with 3DS Max, so I've only seen demos, but one of the great things about RPF files, is that you can save object information as well as normals info, and G-buffer data, which allows you to replace textures on some objects and deal with some of the 3D objects as thought they were 3D, except from a fixed perspective. You can render 3D post effects like 3D fog and 3D depth of field effects, and one of the most useful things you can do is render pixel velocity information, which allows you to create very impressive (and accurate) motion blurs in Combustion. You can really take advantage of the tools which were designed to be used between the two programs. This might also solve your texture bleed issues all together.

Heath
