Global Settings appearing or not

Global Settings appearing or not

I was going through Ken LaRue's Combustion 4 tutorials on particles, and noticed that when he created a composite, it did not have a "Global Settings" branch, whereas when I created a composite using the same method, it *did* have a "Global Settings" branch. Can anybody tell me why this would be?
