you should have a look at http://www.keyhole.com and download the free trial. the soft do the tricks but it's not no budget. also look at http://maps.google.com/. on the upper click on "satellite". with some screenshots /cloud / motion blur and even a plane crossing the footage I think you can do soft transitions.
