Re: Layout/Master page question

You can Command (or ctrl) + Shift select the object on each document page (as suggested above), but you can save yourself that step. Go to your document page, choose Place and get your loaded cursor, then simply hover over the master page object on the document page and you'll see rounded brackets around the loaded cursor icon...just click and the graphic will be placed inside that object. You have now done a master page override and placed a graphic all in one step.

Keep in mind that just because you've overridden the master page item doesn't mean there's no connection left to it. For instance, if you change the object's color or position on the master page, it will change on the document page. When you do a master page override, it only overrides what you've done to it (in this case, put something as its content)...everything else stays connected. Going back and removing overrides puts the object back as it is on the Master Page (and re-locks it to the Master). If you choose Detach Selection (or All Objects) from Master, you'll permanently sever the connection.
