[Bret Williams] "I'll bet Matrox would love to support Resolve. I don't think that's in Blackmagic's plan. Kinda defeats the purpose of buying DaVinci and handing out free copies of the lite version.
"

Sounds about right Bret. BMD's originally stated intent was that they wanted to add third party I/O support ... but that was back when they were competing for the low end with Apple Color, and Resolve for Mac cost $1000 a pop. Now that it's (essentially) free to all, and Apple Color has gone the way of the Dodo, there's precious little strategic sense in opening it up to third party I/O. As is, it's certainly helping sell BMD I/O hardware into prime markets that they previously hadn't cracked. We were looking at putting in some new Mac based NLE systems with AJA I/O, following the rather spectacular implosion of Apple's Final Cut Studio we're now we're looking at PC based systems with BMD I/O. (Side note: In either scenario we still get to keep and use our excellent Matrox MXO2 I/O hardware, which works a treat as a mobile solution for pretty much any system that crosses our path).
