Yeah, HDMI out from a camera is not "protected" in any way. The DVD player's is, for obvious reasons. It's the same kind of deal with Blu-ray players. The YCbCr output does not carry HDCP, so it is "intentionally crippled" to only output SD video therefore preventing people from copying/capturing BD's in HD.
