The MXO coupled with a decent (not cheap off brand, but GOOD REP brand) HDTV will get you pretty good results. Darn close to pro monitors...but there is a reason we still swear by using the pro monitors. HDTVs are "good enough" for a whole lot of situations. And GOOD ones, like the Panasonic Pro Plasmas, are actually used by pro colorists. But those are just about as expensive as normal broadcast monitors.
Don't knock it...it works, and it does a good job with HDTVs. Just don't expect a 23" Ajai or other off brand to look as good as an FSI. Ain't gonna happen.
