Re: Making broadcast files for digital delivery

Hi Todd - I'm using AXIO LE with CS3. I distribute cable spots every day as MPEG-2 and MOV files to Comcast systems in various parts of the country. Many systems on the east coast have their own web portals and prefer MPEG-2 while some of the others have direct FTP sites and require MOV files.
For MPEG-2 we go straight off the timeline to Adobe Media Encoder using the following specs:
Video: 720x480 CBR @ 8Mbps (Some systems want 10-15Mbps)
Audio: 48 Khz @ 224kbps
File size should be right at 30MB per :30 spot (900 frames @ 8Mbps)
For MOV delivery it varies depending on the system but most want one of the following:
AVID DV100 Codec 4:1:1
(or)
AVID Meridien Compressed 3:1 RGB (0-255) 720x486
Soon, most Comcast Spotlight systems will be "standardized" and accept the garden variety MPEG-2 file like Cox, Time Warner, SuddenLink, etc.
Hope this helps!
~Mike~
