For years I've edited with FCP and color graded using my monitor...

I think now might be the time to finally get a proper card like this and calibrate on my plasma HD TV

For a novice like me, can someone please list the other benefits of buying this card... not what does it have... what does it DO...

The web and youtube seem to be full of laundry lists of what inputs/outputs it has... what I want to know is... why should I care... what will it DO for me:


I have :

Sony EX1 Camers

Pana DVX100

Pana HVX200

MacBook Pro

MacPro 8 Core

FCP Studio 2

After Effects and Adobe products


I sometimes do 2 camera shoots... can I do a live switch between 2 cameras?

Can I record straight to my macbook via HDSDI?


Can I monitor on my Apple Cinema Monitor? I dont have a really nice plasma, but my cinema display would be nice to preview and grade with?


Anything else you can tell me?
