Hello Andrew,
HDMI route usually introduces latency, so I would send the audio through HDMI to the TV, then connect the output audio from the TV to the speaker.
I personally use MOTU V4HD as the hub and connect MXO2's HDSDI or MXO's HDSDI to V4HD, then to the consumer HDTV, then use the V4HD's audio delay function to match the sync.
