weird ... I'll bet some part of the old installation got uninstalled but some error (permissions maybe?) caused it to fail to complete the job ... and now because the uninstaller can't find the item it did uninstall it thinks its done its job and quits

you're probably going to have to uninstall by hand:

delete the com.matrox.vpg kext files from your /System/Library/Extensions folder
then in the Finder press Cmd-Shift-G (Go > Go to Folder) and type "/usr/libexec" (without the quotes)
delete the com.matrox.vpg.Agent file
and again in the Finder's Go to Folder dialog type "/tmp"
and delete the CleanShutdown file

now do a full shutdown of your system, then a cold boot.
you should be able to run the 1.5 installer after that
