Justin,

The MXO is an output only device that uses the DVI output from your Mac to pass the audio and video signal to its output spigots. The USB connection on the MXO is solely for the host Mac's control of the MXO device itself, its not part of the a/v output path. The MXO2 series are a whole different kettle of fish than the MXO. For input and output operations it obviously needs to connect to the host Mac via a bidirectional interface connect, so clearly the Mac's DVI out is not an option. USB and Firewire do not have the necessary throughput required to deal with some video formats such as Uncompressed HD, which is why devices that do connect via those protocols cannot handle such formats.

Bottom line, if you're finding you really need an MXO2 then you just have to face up to the fact that you'll need to upgrade to more suitable host hardware. Sorry :(

Andy
